Check-In, Airshow Prep, Membership Meeting & Reception
Check-In: Check-In continues from 9 - 5 in the hotel lobby. Our dedicated team of ladies will greet you and give you your check-in packet. You must pick it up today if you are attending the reception tonight or the airshow tomorrow.
Preparations for the Airshow: If you are going to the airshow tomorrow, there are a couple of things you must do today to ensure you have a non-stressful day at the airshow.
You must pick up your check-in packet by this evening because it contains your wristband and ticket. You must have your wristband on and your ticket in hand in order to board the bus and in order to enter the flight line chalet area.
Miramar has changed their security rules. You cannot take purses, bags, backpacks, etc., into the flight line area. If you have items you need to carry, we have a limited number of clear plastic bags. Just ask the ladies when you check-in for one or see Mary in the ready room. But do it today; things will be hectic tomorrow.
Membership Meeting: The membership meeting is this afternoon at 3 p.m. in the ready room. Please make a special effort to be there as we have at least two very important items on the agenda.
We need to fill two vacancies on the Board of Directors. As you know, earlier in the year Director Bob Pearl passed away. Director Dave Benson is resigning from the board, effective today. Please be thinking about whom you would like to see on the board.
The other big ticket item is to determine where the next LACB, LACB31 will be held. Our 18 month cycle places it in May 2020 ± a month or so. The question is where? Where do you want to go next? We always have many great suggestions, but we always need someone to step forward to help make it happen in one of those great places. Can you do that? Have a buddy who could help? We have the services of our spectacular meeting planner, Mary Buoniguidi to negotiate with hotels and do the hard stuff.

Gunfighter Reception: Finally down to the fun stuff, the welcome aboard Gunfighter Reception. It begins at 1800 in the Soledad Ballroom and goes until 2100. Flight jackets are appropriate if you brought it. This is the time and place to meet and greet all of your old squadronmates. There will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, which for some of us makes a sufficient meal. Make sure you've picked up your check-in packet because it has your first drink ticket!
